How to Set BMS Communication of Dyness Battery With Voltronic Power Hybrid Solar Inverter

Lithium Battery BMS With Voltronic Power Hybrid Solar Inverter | BMS Communication of Solar Inverter

To build a custom RJ45 communication cable between a Dyness lithium battery and a Voltronic-based inverter (like the Axpert series), map the RS485 communication pins properly. Typically, Voltronic inverters use Pin 3 (RS485B) and Pin 5 (RS485A) on their BMS port, while Dyness batteries use Pin 1 (RS485B) and Pin 2 (RS485A) on their port.

Inverter & Battery Settings

Set the master battery DIP switches correctly (usually the first switch ON and the rest OFF, or 0010).
Set DIP switch #2 to ON (Switches 1, 3, and 4 should be set to OFF/0) for Voltronic RS485 communication compatibility.

To set up communication between a Knox inverter and a Dyness lithium battery, connect the RS485 or CAN communication cable from the battery's BMS port to the inverter's BMS port, configure the inverter's battery setting to Lithium (LIB or protocol Pylon/PYL), and match the dip switch settings on the battery.

Knox Inverter Settings Configuration

Go to the inverter settings menu on the display screen.Navigate to the battery type setting (typically Setting 14 or Setting 5 depending on the specific Knox inverter model).Change the battery selection from lead-acid to Lithium (LIB) or select the matching protocol option such as PYL (Pylontech/Dyness standard protocol).Save the changes and wait up to a minute. Successful communication is verified when the inverter screen stops showing error codes (like Error 61) and matches the exact battery state-of-charge percentage and voltage.

Turn on the Dyness battery.

Go to the Voltronic inverter programming menu and set Program 05 / 14 (Battery Type) to LIB / PYL (Lithium) or select the specific RS485 protocol matching your setup.

Switch and Settings Configuration

  1. Set the DIP switches on your master Dyness battery according to your specific battery model manual (e.g., B4850 or BX51100) to designate it as the master unit.
  2. Power on the battery first, then boot up the inverter.Navigate to the inverter's LCD programming menu ( Program 05 or equivalent battery type setting).
  3. Change the battery type option from USE (User Defined) to LIB or PYL (which supports Pylontech/Dyness protocol communication strings).
  4. Save and exit the settings. Wait 1 to 2 minutes for the handshake between the battery BMS and the inverter to establish
